House Clearance Darlington Requirements
Our client in this case asked us to clear a three-bedroomed flat in a rather splendid Edwardian mansion block in Darlington. He had been renting the flat out to the same tenant, an elderly lady, for nearly 20 years. Sadly, the tenant had died recently, and the client had decided to sell the property rather than rent it out again. The former tenant’s family had taken most of the elderly lady’s private effects, but that still left a considerable amount of furniture to clear. The landlord also asked us to clear out the kitchen cabinets and white goods as he’d decided to refurbish the kitchen before putting the property on the market.
House Clearance Darlington Overview
We got to the property bright and early, around 7 a.m. and set to work. We started in the kitchen, removing all of the white goods, a fridge freezer, a washing machine and an electric cooker. After emptying out all of the cabinets, we dismantled and removed these carefully to avoid damage to the plaster work. Soon the kitchen was completely empty apart from the plumbing and sink. We switched the water off at the stopcock to avoid any chance of flooding.
While one team worked in the kitchen, the other removed the furniture and effects from the living room, hallway and bedrooms. One thing of interest we came across was an old stamp collection. We put this aside to show the client as we suspected he might want to pass it on to his former tenant’s family.
We finished the house clearance at 3.30 p.m. then spent an hour giving the flat a thorough clean.
Disposal of Contents
The furniture we’d removed was of good quality, much of it from John Lewis. It did have a secondhand value but the client told us the elderly lady’s family had asked that it should be donated to her favourite local charity in Darlington. We were happy to provide transport at no extra cost.
The client passed on the stamp album to the family who were delighted to receive it as it had much sentimental value.
House Clearance Darlington Client Comments
Our client was very impressed by the standard of our work and said that he would be happy to recommend us to friends and contacts. He was also pleased that we’d found and preserved the stamp album, and passed on the thanks of his former tenant’s family.
